- NEW TOWN -
In the past there was a dirty loch between Old Town and the Firth of Forth. These days you can walk through the finest of architecture, New Town. It includes the famous shoppingstreet in Edinburgh: Princes Street. But it has more to offer as you can see when this page unfolds in the coming months.

(c) www.picturesofedinburgh.com Even before spring officialy begins, Princes Street Gardens can be stuffed with people who like to enjoy the sunshine. Maybe 'stuffed' is not the correct word because it always is relaxing to be there.

(c) www.picturesofedinburgh.com The National Gallery of Scotland is rebuild (sort of) in the first years of the new millennium. Fortunately they made the new building "look old". It lies beneath the old gallery and connects it directly to Princes Street Gardens.

(c) www.picturesofedinburgh.com The first thing most tourists visit (maybe after the Castle) is Princes Street. On this picture you can see the Waverley Hotel and (to the left) the department-store Jenners.

(c) www.picturesofedinburgh.com Definitely one of the most beautiful spots for a view over the city: Calton Hill. This is a view from the hill to Princes Street. You can see the Balmoral Hotel (tower), Scott Monument and the shopping street.
